a set of three knife blocks. Each block is inlaid with neodymium rare earth magnets, strong for knives or metal tools. Each block is also made of a different wood for variance.
the project concept was to create a product design for manufacturing using repetitive custom jigs.
after design conception, the most significant part of the process was creating two custom jigs in order to ensure identical manufacturing. I created custom jigs for drill placement and angle alignment. THis piece was created using a miter saw, table saw, joiner, planer, belt sander, drill press, and orbital sander.
